Christmas Message
The end of year meal and award night was a great success with 29 members/partners turning up to make the evening special.
As a region, Derby, Staffs & Leics has had another great year. Members have been active in all areas of the scene, attending shows, taking part in track events, a rolling road day and our friendly monthly meets ensuring the region has continued to develop.
Now some thanks…
Firstly, thanks to all members who have taken time to attend events, shows and runs that we have organised through the year.
Secondly, thanks to everyone (members, friends and relatives) who have volunteered and helped out with marshalling, national day, photography, regional displays, etc. We couldn’t do it without you!
Thirdly, thanks to all the members who have made our region the success it is by ensuring that our monthly meets are welcoming and friendly for both existing and new members.
Finally, I must say a big thanks to the Rose & Crown, for providing such a welcoming new home for the region this year.
As usual we made the annual presentation during the Christmas meal night and the awards for 2004 went to the following recipients:
Newcomer 2004 – Grant Birkin
Grant’s enthusiasm and helpful nature have proved not only an asset to the region during 2005 but also Club GTI nationally.
Most Improved Car 2004 – Glen Broadhead
Glen’s vision, drive, and determination have produced one of the highest quality and most well rounded cars I have seen in years featuring subtle OEM+ looks and packing an awesome 1.8T install.
Clubman 2004 – Jon Miller & Matt Holt
This year we decided to award two Clubman awards. The first award going to Jon in thanks and recognition of his help in developing the region by investing a lot of time in designing, setting up and administering our regional website.
The second award going to Matt who has been there at almost all events throughout the year and is always more than willing to volunteer and help. Thanks again!
Show Shield 2004 – Alex Juggins
Alex’s enthusiasm for the scene knows no bounds, both in showing his vehicles and using them on and off the track. Alex has consistently put in a lot of time and effort in not only presenting his stunning 16-valve Golf at shows throughout the year but also showing and using his Polo G40 occasionally both at the same event!
So that brings the year to a close and I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year as we look forward to 2005!
Hope to see you soon.
