Edition 38 2005
What a fabulous weekend for the Edition38 show as the weather was great on both Saturday and Sunday!
This was the first time I have attended Edition 38, (I don’t know why as my home town is Northampton!) but first impressions upon arriving were great, well organised and the £10 entry was for both days (wrist band entry system), a bargain!
I arrived on Saturday with my Mk1 and was directed to the Show and Shine area where I began the preparation. As I looked around I saw just how good the other cars were and thought I would need to polish a little harder today. I paid my £5 entry fee and then two and a half hours of preparation started.
The sun shone all day long and in the usual fashion I began to fry (my trusty GTI hat kept my somewhat thin hair line and head protected) and after cleaning the car I made my way around the show looking at the trade stands. The trade stands were very impressive with the usual high-class turnout from Trimsport, Volkspares, Performance VW, Golf + and many more. For once I got all the bargains, as Steve Rudd wasn't in front of me! My final resting point was the Club GTI stand where there was plenty of shelter in good company (thanks Matt).
The afternoon was soon upon us and I received a phone call from the organisers asking me to take my car to the stage, as I had won a top-10 prize. I was shocked at first that I had won a trophy as the standard of cars was the best I had seen for ages but a big grin soon appeared on my face as I drove the car on to the stage area to collect my silver plate.
The day was 100% and I look forward to going back next year - well actually I did go back on Sunday with my mk2 to form a mini club display in front of the Club GTI stand with Andy and Chris.
The food stands on Sunday were very good, so good in fact that Chris couldn't stop eating the bacon burger specials. At £2 a go Chris went mad (he is now like my twin!). The rest of the day was spent looking around the show and getting hot yet again.
The turnout on Sunday was even better than Saturday with people everywhere and very little spare space for any more cars.
Well done to everyone involved in the Edition 38 show for a truly great event. I’m already looking forward to next year!
